Signature Music Academy (SIGMA) is a Pasifika-centric music and performing arts organisation that uses Pasifika music and teaching methods to provide cultural learnings, musical skills, and life skills to Pasifika youth.
SIGMA is underpinned by Pasifika values and language, creating an environment where students are regularly exposed to and fully immersed in various Pasifika languages, helping to keep them alive for generations to come.
Statistics show that while the Pasifika population in New Zealand is growing, the number of people speaking Pasifika languages is declining. SIGMA places Pasifika language at the heart of its teaching to ensure future generations can keep these languages alive and thriving.
Teaching Pasifika music provides an engaging way for youth to learn Pasifika languages, with musical performance also fostering essential life skills such as confidence, preparation, teamwork, resilience, and communication.
